Features & Benefits

Persons with dementia want to be independent, age in place and stay safe while enjoying freedom of movement, privacy and dignity. Caregivers and families want the ability to utilize technologies to empower them and their loved one with dementia – including tools to enable lifestyle management balancing elder care, parenting and work while reducing the stress and worry offering peace of mind.

CareRing benefits the Caregiver, the wearer and the Community

  • 1. Saves time and money – An average search without CareRing technology can involve multiple agencies, hundreds of officers, countless man-hours and in some cases hundreds of thousands of dollars.
  • 2. Saves community resources – without CareRing, a search and rescue mission consumes law enforcement, public safety and other community resources. When you have CareRing, you may find the eloping person right away so those same resources can focus elsewhere.
  • 3. Proven technology – GPS, Cell and VHF Radio technology is unique to CareRing and can work in densely wooded areas, buildings, garages or any other hidden location.
  • 4. It works – CareRing’s proven technology reduces stress on the caregiver.

Saves community resources – without CareRing, a search and rescue mission consumes law enforcement, public safety and other community resources.

Caregiver - light weight

Weighs less than 58 grams (less than 2 ounces) and its low profile does not present a big lump on top of the person’s wrist. The electronics is distributed around the perimeter of the band. CareRing comes in three sizes.

Snap Tops can be decorated to suit the wearer and help in gaining acceptance and compliance by your loved one to wear the device and continue wearing it.

Caregiver - rings

Caregiver - battery

The battery can last up to 14 days in Home Mode with the CareRing staying within the Safety Zone.  Should the CareRing battery level fall below a pre-set value, the device will automatically send a “Battery Low” message to the caregiver. This message would be triggered if the battery level was below a set level but not low enough that cellular communication was near failing.

Caregiver - water proof

Daily active living involves device exposure to dust, dirt and water. While some devices may be “splash resistant”, they are not “water immersion” resistant or waterproof. CareRing is 100% protected against solid objects like dust and sand, and it has been tested to work for at least 30 minutes while under up to 1m (39”) of water.  You should not have to remove a device when a person has a bath, a shower or goes swimming.

Caregiver - lock

The CareRing locks on the wrist and can only be removed with a special key.  Should the CareRing latch be opened at any time that the CareRing is not in the base station cradle the CareRing will automatically send a message to the caregiver’s smartphone.

Caregiver - signal

The CareRing is tamper proof in that it has no screens, menus or buttons to press. Should the CareRing latch be opened at any time that the CareRing is not in the base station cradle the CareRing will automatically send a message to the caregiver’s smartphone.

 Caregiver - home modeHOME MODE

When the Home button on the Base Station is pressed the blue Home light will come on steady.  This activates the low power RF Safety Zone.  This is the normal power saving operating mode with the CareRing within the Safety Zone around the Base Station.

If the person wearing the device goes out of the Safety Zone, two things will happen.

The caregiver will receive a message and the CareRing will automatically go into Search Mode, providing location, temperature and movement information to the caregiver’s computer or smartphone every 60 seconds and audible and visual alarms will be triggered on the Base Station itself.

Caregiver - awayAWAY MODE

When the Away button on the Base Station is pressed the yellow Away light will come on steady. In Away mode the Safety Zone is inactive and the person wearing the device can leave the home without any alarms being triggered or the device going into Search Mode.

Away mode is used if the person is leaving the Safety Zone for any normal living activities such as walking, outside visits, excursions and even golfing or camping.

In Away Mode, the caregiver can locate the person on request.  Should the person not return from their activity within an expected time frame, the caregiver also locate the person by initiating Search Mode from their computer or smartphone.  Away Mode can be used with or without the caregiver accompanying the client.

Caregiver - searchSEARCH MODE

Search Mode is automatically triggered when the CareRing leaves the defined Safety Zone in Home Mode. It can also be triggered by the caregiver in Away Mode or at any time the caregiver choses to do so. In Search Mode the caregiver receives location messages every 60 seconds. Temperature and Movement information can also be included in the messaging as an option.

In the event of a loss of Cell service or the ability to get satellite reception, CareRing constantly emits a VHF radio signal (Ping). VHF Radio is the technology used by Police and Search and Rescue. Unlike cellular and GPS technology, its signal doesn’t rely on cellular networks or satellite signals and can often be tracked when a person wanders into a shallow body of water, a densely wooded area, a concrete structure such as a garage, or a building constructed with steel.

The Search and Rescue Receivers can detect the RF signal emitted from a CareRing typically within a range of one half mile for on-the-ground searches and 5-7 miles in searches by helicopter. This is another reason why you can trust CareRing.

Caregiver - idea

CareRing uses a unique technology to notify up to five caregivers by email and/or texts when attention is required. Messages are received instantly and are not dependent on network traffic.

When an alert is initiated by CareRing, it is sent to the First caregiver. If there is no response from that caregiver within 1 minute to acknowledge ownership, a second alert is sent to both the first and second caregiver. Again, if there is no response, a third message is sent in 1 minute to the first 3 caregivers, and so on until all 5 caregivers are alerted. The first response to the alerts, stops further messaging as help is on the way.

Robust Safety Alerts

  1. Safety Zone Exited
  2. Excessive HEAT or COLD
  3. FALL Sensor Alert
  4. Removal Tamper Alert / Lockable
  5. Low Battery Alert

Carering is a SMART device. It works when the person wearing it is not aware of problems

Caregiver - safety zone

The Safety Zone range can be set up using a Hi-Med-Lo three-way switch on the backside of the Base Station.  This allows for setting up the Safety Zone based on your home environment and the limit you want to set before you get an Alert that the person has wandered out of the Safety Zone.

Caregiver - wireless

Two Simple Steps – Remove the CareRing from wrist and with the band open set the CareRing on the basestation charging cradle. There are no wires to hook up and no openings in the band to allow water or dust to enter the CareRing. When the unit is charged the charge light turns green.

Caregiver - fall

CareRing is equipped with a three dimensional accelerometer. As an option, the CareRing will detect the probability or likelihood of a fall but will not provide 100% assurance that a fall has occurred. A pre-set program will determine the likelihood of a fall at any time and the CareRing will automatically send a message to the caregiver’s smartphone should a possible fall be detected.

Caregiver - temp

Should the ambient temperature outside the CareRing exceed a pre-set high temperature or fall below a pre-set low temperature, as an option, the CareRing will automatically send a message to the caregiver’s smartphone alerting the caregiver to the temperature extreme situation.

Caregiver - CareRing

The goal of CareRing is simple…

To increase the safety and well-being of a loved one at risk to wander and give caregivers greater peace of mind, greater independence and confidence and trust that their loved one is safe.
